Reopening
The DFT/Government have provided some clarity on when flying for leisure can resume.
March 29th PPL hire can resume, subject to no household mixing and of course your own currency (call us if unsure).
April 12th normal service resumes so call us now to book in for PPL, IMC training and trial lessons.
Tier 4
Following the announcement that we have been put into the new Tier 4, we are currently unable to offer Leisure Training, Trial lessons or hire of our aircraft. Training towards becoming a Commercial Pilot including Flying Instructor courses continues. We aim to get back to normal as soon as the Government allows.
Tier Two Lockdown
Following the end of the national lockdown, Southend has been placed in Tier 2.
This means we are allowed to offer PPL Hire and Trial Lessons again. We are however still subject to mixed household rules, meaning unfortunately at the moment passengers can not accompany anyone on a trial lesson.
Covid-19 Update
Despite the current Lockdown running until December, Southend Flying Club remains open with some limitations. PPL leisure flying is not allowed. All training may continue, but we are keeping the number of visitors at a minimum, so no passengers during training, no social visitors and no trial lessons until the rules are updated.
